Store News: April 12th, 2006

The last few weeks have seen a few incredible pulls out of packs - across all sports!

Here's a quick rundown of pulls and some news:

  • Baseball: From Topps Triple Threads (~$100/pack currently), we've seen a number of great pieces - a Mickey Mantle Triple Jersey 9/9, Ted Williams/Musial/Greenberg Triple Bat/Jersey, 1-of-1 Johan Santana Printing Plate Triple Relic Auto, and many more great pulls from Triple Threads. Topps' first foray into the high end market looks like a winner. Triple Threads has people highly anticipating Topps' next high end release: Co-Signers Baseball. We've also had a couple more 1-of-1's pulled from 2006 Topps, and also 2005 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects!

  • Basketball: The customer favorite Sage Autographed basketball continues to deliver at $5-$7 a pack (depending on the year). A few of the autographs we've seen recently include Bogut, Marvin Williams, McCants, Sean May, Hakim Warrick, Charlie Villaneuva, Chris Duhon, and Ben Gordon. Out of 05-06 SP Authentic, we saw a sweet Chris Paul / Deron Williams dual auto!

  • Football: Though it's the offseason, it's never the wrong time to buy cards. Out of Donruss Gridiron Gear, we've seen a Hines Ward Nameplate (Jersey Swatch from nameplate of jersey), and also a Barry Sanders Nameplate. Out of 2005 Exquisite football we've seen many incredible cards, as to be expected out of a ~$550 pack!

  • Hockey: If you haven't heard of Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin - take note! These guys are the chase of the rookies this year. Both, along with a very strong overall rookie class (due to having 2 years of rookies in one year's product) should contribute to the NHL for many years to come. Imagine the odds when one customer pulled a Sidney Crosby RC out of Black Diamond Hockey (extremely hard at (1) 4-diamond RC per BOX, with many different 4-diamond RCs possible) - and then a couple weeks later pulled an Ovechkin 4-Diamond RC from the same product! That's about $650 in book value from about 6 packs total!
